Alpine tunnels: specific regulations for heavy goods vehicles

Every year, many carriers, trucks, coaches and other road professionals cross the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the Fréjus Tunnel from France to Italy and vice versa. And every year, the rates for these two Alpine tunnels are revised on 1 January.
The toll is used to finance the teams responsible for safety and quality of service, as well as investments to maintain and improve the condition of the two Franco-Italian Tunnels.

Pass card for Alpine tunnels

For heavy goods vehicles, coaches and light or commercial vehicles regularly using the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the Fréjus Tunnel, whether in the direction of France-Italy or in the direction of Italy-France, a unique pass card, free and nominative exists. This subscription card provides numerous privileges for heavy goods vehicles, coaches and other road professionals.

According to the latest eco-responsible standards in force, only heavy goods vehicles of Euro 5 and 6 standards are authorized as of July 1, 2020.
